Samson Ayotunde Ogowewo was born to the family of late Chief Nathanael Ighele Ogowewo and Chief Mrs. Florence Omoboja Ogowewo NEE Olawande who are indigenes of Ukpude/Edherie, Aviara clan, Isoko south LGA of Delta state and Ado Ekiti, Ekiti state respectively.  At the seventh month of his birth, he was diagnosed of cataracts. As he was growing up, he did not allow this condition to deter him. As all medical treatment did not yield desired result as Samson’s eyes could not be restored back fully.

Educational Background:

Samson started his primary education from Omoode Primary School Irri area of Delta State in 1983.     He changed his school to Isoko Central School, Oleh where he spent a limited time as a result of his visual impairment. On February 7, 1989 he was admitted into the Ondo State School for the Blind, Owo.    He proceeded to Owo High School, Owo for his mainstream post primary education. This type of learning brought both sighted and their visually impaired contemporaries to learn in the same classroom.  At Owo High school he became the librarian prefect in 1998. In that same year, he was given the award of the best student of English language. In 2001, he proceeded to Delta state University, Oleh campus where he read diploma in law.   He relocated to Ado Ekiti his maternal home. He saw the need to start a program on radio for persons with disabilities. Hence, he started presenting at Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRSC) Progress FM 100.5 Ado, Ekiti State as a Freelance presenter. Program Anchored: Bridging the Gap. (2004). Theradio programme was tailored towards creating awareness about persons with disabilities.


SAMSON AYOTUNDE OGOWEWO is the MD/CEO of SABIG COMMUNICATIONS. (Public relation and media consultancy.) He is also an information/public enlightenment officer with the Delta State ministry of information his course of study is Mass Communication, he specializes in Public Relations and Advertising. Other training acquired are:  Accounting system and reporting, Lessons learnt workshop, Organizational Development, Group Dynamics, Business Development, Monitoring and Evaluation Training, Manual of operational policies and procedure organized by Creative Hands multipurpose cooperative society and sponsored by United State African Development foundation USADF. He also participated in the 8th Annual shipping career summit, Warri 2014 organized by Ships and Ports Communication Company. He participated in the seminar tagged: see the need and do it rightorganized by the Rotaract club of Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba Akoko.

He has held various positions: President, creative hands Multipurpose Cooperative Society, 2009 to march 2013; he was responsible for the management of the capacity building project funded by United State African Development Foundation (USADF) to the tune of one hundred thousand US dollars. He was saddled with responsibility of creating good image for the cooperative. Monitoring and evaluating the performance of staff during the USADF project, assists the cooperative in establishing of internal control policies and effective implementation of the policies. He has also gathered some experience from the Delta Broadcasting Service, ‘DBS’ Warri.  There he was the producer and presenter of a program titled “Equal Opportunities”. Interviewing members of the society on the welfare and rights of persons with disabilities, interviewing the persons with disabilities on their abilities, raising of fund via the program for indigent persons with disabilities. Additionally, he is a board member and consultant to Apiri Hallowed Foundation a faith-based NGO that is established to reach out to the plight of the less privileged, like: orphans, widows, and prison inmates, the hospitalized and other vulnerable persons as assigned by God.

Samson started an NGO Better Living Foundation of the Disabled acronym BELIFOD (November 28 2006) from Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba Akoko, Ondo State the university where he graduated from. Which has now metamorphose into better standard living development initiative(bsldi)He was also a member of Rotaract Club Adekunle Ajasin University, and his NGO formed alliance with Students in Free Enterprises SIFE, JCI, and other necessary body on campus.  He advocated for the incorporation of the physically challenged persons in Adekunle Ajasin University to be given representation at the student union government and he was a pioneering member to represent the physically challenged persons at the student representative council SRC a legislative arm of the student union government SUG at the Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba Akoko, Ondo State, Nigeria.

Here are some activities carried out by Better Living Foundation of the Disabled (BELIFOD) Akungba Akoko, Undo State. This NGO started in the Year November 28 2006.  The services provided include; providing welfare for members, fund raising, issuing of press releases, organising seminars and workshops for members and non-members, creating awareness through media, creating good image for the organisation and persons with disabilities in Nigeria, providing counseling services for members, non- members, and parents of persons with disabilities in Nigeria.  BELIFOD organized a major seminar tagged: care support and integration of the physically challenged persons in Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Ondo State, Nigeria. The seminar took place on May 12, 2007. The awareness creation of the seminar was published in echo newspaper a campus newspaper in Adekunle Ajasin University on    May 19, 2008: headline, FunkeAgagu to grace BELIFOD seminar.

Before starting BELIFOD, Samson was vice president to Renew Hope Foundation of the Disabled, REHFODIP,Akure, Ondo State, 2004 -2006. He was responsible for sourcing for fund from internal and external donors, editing of press releases, news, articles and proposals, intermediary between our organisation and other NGOs, reporter of trainers conference on Reproductive Health, HIV/AIDS and Life Building Skill for People with Disabilities in Ondo State of Nigeria, a programme organized by the former wife of the governor of Ondo State Mrs. FunkeAgagu under her pet project Handicapped Education Foundation HANDEF.  He   served as a rapporteur during the two-day seminar.


Here are some activities carried out as an individual as well as various organization’s he has worked with or pioneered:

  1. NGO appreciate Chevron: OCT. 8, 2007 published by Echo newspaper, campus newspaper of AAUA, it was also published in Thisday newspaper, under the auspices of BELIFOD.

 Corps Members Make Case for the Physically Challenged. Published by The Nation newspaper:  Thursday July, 15 2010. This is a medium where he raised fund for a blind young gospel singer and also enrolled him in the Ekiti State School for the blind while he was serving at the Delta Broadcasting Service DBS, Warri.

  1. Tunde in Dire need of Help: The Nation newspaper: September 4, 2008. This is one of the fundraising activities for a physically challenged linguistics student of Adekunle Ajasin University carried out by BELIFOD.
  2. And Tunde Die: The Nation Newspaper:  Thursday march, 19 2009.
  3. Group Faults Uduaghan Appointment: compass news: August 5, 2010. An advocacy work by BELIFOD calling the attention of the former governor Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan to put a round peg in a round hole.
  4. Our Story in Blindness: Saturday Tribune news, 2 March, 2013, page 30. An interview by the aforementioned correspondent of Tribune newspaper at the exhibition of our craft products organized by the Delta state ministry of poverty alleviation. As the president of creative hands, he led his team to this programme.
